Imported Spring

Imported Spring

Flower shop across from Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington.  These colorful flowers caught my eye on a beautiful, clear day last week.  It was as if February had imported the 20th from April to replace it’s usual first day of the month.

Blossom-fix

Blossoms, downtown Seattle - March 2011

I love the blossoms that show up on trees this time of year.  At least, they usually do.  They’re late coming out in Southeast Michigan this year, but had short business trip to Seattle a couple weeks ago and caught these blossoms downtown on 1st street across from the Seattle Art Museum.

A visit to Sunnyside Beach

Sunset at Sunnyside Beach

Had a chance to drop by Sunnyside Beach in Steilacoom, Washington in early January to catch the sunset. Used to go here fairly regularly when I was a kid. There was a while when Dad would run here every day, and Jim and I would sometimes go and run with him. I must have been about 13 or 14 then. It’s changed quite a bit since we did those runs. Mostly “improvements” like grassy areas, volleyball nets, etc, but there’s also less actual beach now.

It was great to go back for a visit.  Despite the chilly weather, I think Arlene, Julianna, and Josh really enjoyed our short time here, too.
