Orchid #6

Orchid #6

Visited the Matthei Botanical Gardens today with the family.  Figured I shoot some photos while everyone looked around, but I neglected the battery on my D80 and it died after just a few shots.  I reverted to my Nokia Lumia 900 for photos the rest of the day.  Not the approach I expected, but some of them came out alright!   Taken with Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone.

    • Thanks! It was an easy effect to achieve – I just hold a piece of black construction paper behind the flower with one hand, and then set the exposure value to -1.0 or so.

      Thanks for visiting!

  3. I feel almost as if I shouldn’t “like” this shot as it wasn’t taken with a “real” camera. But I’m constantly amazed by the quality of these phone cameras. And you definitely have an artistic eye!

    • Lol – Thanks! There is no doubt they are inferior to the “real cameras”. The dead battery in my Nikon was a disappointment. Lucky for me, with a little attention to composition — and some forethought to “play to the strengths” of the phone camera (limited though they may be) — even an amateur like me can turn out a half decent image on the phone now and then. :)
