What a difference a year makes!

A year ago, I wrote that spring was tentative and late.  This year, spring has arrived confidently and so early as to be impolite to winter.  The photo below was taken today, the first of April.  Nikon D80, Nikkor 50mm, f/4, 1/800 sec, ISO 200.

And here’s the same tree in a photo from 2011 — the fourth of May.    Nikon D80, Nikkor 24-120mm at 62mm, f/5.6, 1/250, ISO 200.

Blossoms - May 2011

Here in Michigan it seems like our weather is about a month ahead of schedule.  Experience tells me it always snows once or twice in April, but this year I’m not sure what to expect.

  2. Nice blossoms! I was in Michigan this time last year. I have heard that things are quite contrary to the usual seasonal behaviour. But Michigan is always unpredictable, so you may still get that snow…

I’ve experienced snow early in May in Michigan a few times. Just moved from there to NYC about 2 years ago. You’ve got a great blog going here.
