October forests

Lower Huron River Metropark, October 2008

October is my favorite month to get out into the forest, for pretty much the same reasons I like fall.  The forecast calls for rain tomorrow, but will try to get into the woods at some point this weekend.  The shots in this post were taken on an outing to celebrate my birthday in 2008 at the Lower Huron River Metropark.

Next weekend, we’re going to try to get a way for a few days.  We’re thinking either Saugatuck, Michigan (here), Mears / Silver Lake, Michigan (here), or farther north up towards Sleeping Bear Dunes (here).  Any recommendations?  As always, feel free to comment, but this is also a gratuitous opportunity to try out the “poll daddy” plugin for WordPress, so vote away! :)  And seriously, your opinions and recommendations are appreciated!

Your pictures are great and your words have captured your outing beautifully. Makes me want to get out there and take a look!
