Ground Hog Day

Nikon D800, Tamron 100mm, f/14, 1/8 sec, ISO-200. Picked up some flowers at the store back on Feb 2nd – thought the contrast of the warm and cool color tones made this photo a good one for Ground Hog day. This is the day, in the US, where a ground hog comes out of his whole and looks around. Legend has it that whether or not he sees his shadow will determine whether or not there is an early spring.

Super simple set up for this shot: vase of flowers in dark room with dark background, camera on tripod, and two flashlights – one incandescent (warm tones) and one LED (cool tones).
